Terms of Service.

1 Who may use StarUp

StarUp is designed to help families turn chores, routines, and rewards into motivating activities. Accounts must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian, or another adult authorized to manage the family account.

If you add a child profile or allow a child to use the Services, you confirm that you are that child’s parent or legal guardian, or that you have the necessary authority and consent to do so. You are responsible for supervising children’s use of the Services and for the information added to your family account.

2 Your account

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account and should notify us promptly if you believe it has been accessed without authorization.

We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect users, the Services, or our rights, including for a violation of these Terms.

3 Family tasks, stars, and rewards

StarUp lets families create tasks, routines, stars, and rewards. Stars, progress, levels, and other in-app features are virtual tools for family organization and motivation only. They are not money, stored value, or a promise of any real-world reward from StarUp.

Parents and guardians decide which tasks and rewards are appropriate for their families. StarUp does not supervise household activities or guarantee task completion, behavior, or any particular outcome.

4 Paid plans and subscriptions

StarUp may offer free and paid plans. When you buy a subscription through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, the applicable store processes the payment and its terms, billing rules, and cancellation process apply.

Before you purchase, the store will show the plan price, billing period, and renewal information. Unless you cancel through the store before the renewal date, an auto-renewing subscription will renew as described at purchase. Except where required by law or provided by the applicable store, payments are non-refundable.

5 Acceptable use

You may use the Services only for lawful, personal, family purposes. You must not misuse the Services, including by:

• violating applicable law or another person’s rights;
• uploading harmful, abusive, infringing, or unlawful content;
• attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfere with the Services, or bypass security measures; or
• copying, selling, reverse engineering, or commercially exploiting the Services except where law permits it.

6 Your content and our intellectual property

You retain rights in the information and content you add to your account. You give us a limited, non-exclusive right to host, process, and display that content only as needed to operate, maintain, and improve the Services.

StarUp and its content, software, branding, and design are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of those rights to you.

7 Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information. It is part of these Terms. You may request account and associated-data deletion through our Account & Data Deletion page.

8 Availability and changes

We may update, improve, or discontinue features of the Services. We will use reasonable efforts to provide notice when a material change is likely to affect your use, but we do not guarantee that every feature will always be available or error-free.

9 Disclaimers and limits of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not make warranties that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that they will meet every family’s needs.

To the extent permitted by law, StarUp will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the Services. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

10 Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Services after an update takes effect means you accept the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
